DF20A 4-stroke

New lightweight Suzuki DF20A
Suzuki announces the launch of a new fuel-efficient and high performance four stroke outboard motor – the all-new DF20A. This new model, which made its world debut at the Düsseldorf Boat Show, will be the first in its class to feature battery-less Electronic Fuel Injection. The new Electronic Fuel Injection system will also be combined with Suzuki’s Lean Burn Fuel Control system, which will result in a number of benefits for boaters such as; easier starts, more responsive acceleration, smoother performance and above all, greater fuel efficiency.

    Power Tilt Models Available
In addition to the DF20A/15A, Suzuki’s portable lineup also includes power tilt models, DF15AT and DF20AT, that provide smooth tilting of the outboard. The system offers greater convenience and improved easier operation

The DF15A are the world’s first outboards in the 11.0kW (15PS) classes equipped with a battery-less fuel injection system that offers quick, easy starts and cleaner, fuel efficient operation. Suzuki engineers took a bold approach in building all-new fuel injection system components that are smaller and lighter than those found in previous systems. And adding Suzuki’s proven Lean Burn Control technology to their design, these outboards deliver remarkable fuel economy and reduced emissions throughout their operating range.

    Features

Suzuki’s Lean Burn Control system delivers outstanding fuel economy
Easy start recoil starter offers reduced effort and quicker starts

    Engine Design
Superior Fuel Economy – Suzuki’s Lean Burn Control System
First introduced on our DF90/80/70, the Suzuki Lean Burn system is an intelligent system that monitors engine performance and operating conditions to predict fuel needs and deliver a leaner fuel mixture to the engine. The system delivers remarkable improvements in fuel economy over the engine’s entire operating range. This system is found on nine Suzuki models from the new DF15A up to the flagship DF300A, providing boaters with top-level fuel economy at all operating speeds.

    Easy to Use
In addition to better fuel economy, the fuel injection system makes starting the outboard easier and more dependable in nearly all operating conditions or environment. While our carburettor models are some of the finest outboards available, fuel injection makes the DF20A/15A operate even smoother with reduced engine vibration.

    Cleaner, Efficient Operation
Suzuki’s advanced four-stroke technology delivers cleaner and efficient outboard operation that conforms to the Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) – Directive 2003/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, and have received “Three-Star Ultra Low Emission” ratings from the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

    SPECIFICATIONS

To achieve this, Suzuki engineers have designed a completely new fuel injection system for this model, which includes; an inline high-pressure fuel pump, a throttle body and small fuel cooler, vapour separator and fuel injector.

By designing these component parts to be smaller than those used on larger Electronic Fuel Injection engines (DF40-DF300) the overall weight of this new model has also been kept as low as possible.

According to Suzuki’s internal testing, this means that at just 44kg the new model will be the lightest and most compact outboard in their class.

The compact size and light weight of the new DF20A makes it an ideal power match for a wide variety of boats, including; small RIBs and tenders, day boats for in-land waterways and small fishing boats to name but a few. In particular, this new outboard will be ideal for entry level boating.

Yasuharu Osawa, Group Manager for Suzuki’s Marine Division in Europe, said “We are delighted to be able to bring this new model to the market. They are an excellent addition to our existing range of portable outboards and by making them more lightweight and fuel-efficient than our competitors’ I am confident that they will be extremely popular with boaters world-wide.”
